How did Cosmopolitan magazine come about?
The Cosmopolitan is undeniably the most famous vodka cocktail – even though the original recipe used gin. The first written mention of the Cosmopolitan dates back to 1934 in the book *Travelling Mixologists*. The original recipe included gin, orange liqueur, lime, and raspberry syrup. However, this recipe was never truly successful. That changed in the 1980s: the cocktail's second life. The Cosmopolitan as we know it today is said to have been created by New York bartender Toby Cecchini in 1987. In his recipe, gin, vodka, and raspberry syrup were replaced with cranberry juice, and voilà: the classic drink was born.
